Review: The Maggots in the Meathead

So I decided to pass the time by writing reviews about some of my favorite Bones episodes. Hopefully, this will help the hiatus to go by much quicker :)

The Maggots In the Meathead (6x03)

In this episode, Bones and Booth investigate a murder that happened at the Jersey Shore! A man who went by "Richie the V" was found dead by a beachcomber. He was buried in the sand, covered in maggots. Let me be the first to saw Ewwwwwww.

Bones and Booth head down to investigate this guy's murder, and we learn something new about Dr. Brennan- she watches The Jersey Shore!

Brennan: “These are what are known as Guidos!”

Brennan: “They gather at the Jersey Shore. The male bonding is near-homoerotic. The friends, or ‘bros’ are more important to them than family.”

Angela: “Right. And how do you know all of this?

Brennan: “I stumbled across a compelling documentary about them. The anthropologist in me was fascinated. I’ve been studying their language and customs"

Angela: “A documentary?"

Brennan: “Yes, on television."

Angela: “Sweetie, just because it’s called reality television, it doesn’t mean it’s a documentary."

Brennan: “I’m quite certain you are incorrect about that."

If you say so, Bones........

Anyways, so Bones and Booth head down to the Shore to see if they can find Richie's buddies. Maybe they know what has happened to their buddy, or they can at least assist in the case. Bones and Booth are having some difficulty finding Richie's guido friends, until.....

Brennan: “Eureka! A gathering of Guidos!”

Bones spots the tribe partying in a building! Hooray for Bones!

Bones and Booth try to figure out how this guy could've died before they dive into the fray. Bones offers her opinion, to which Booth counteracts with...

Booth: “Either that or he was just tossed headfirst into the concrete by a bunch of drunken idiots.”

Brennan: “That certainly would fit into their tribal customs."

Lesson to be learned, kids- don't be a drunken idiot. It leads to murder.

Bones has to break the news to some of Richie's tribe-mates, who are not to happy to learn that their buddy has bitten the dust. Quite literally, actually.

Poor guy :(

So after talking to the guidos, Bones and Booth discover that Richie was at a club the night he was murdered.

Everyone heads back to their respective workplaces to get prepare for the next step of the investigation. Bones is working on something when Hannah comes in.

Cue the dramatic music and ominous thunder.

So Her Evilness is on a mission- she needs to find a gift for Booth for his birthday, and Bones is the one to ask. After all, Bones has known him way longer. And Booth likes her better, anyways. Cue Brennan's fake smile.

Brennan: “Get him a rotary phone! He says that’s what a phone is supposed to be, indestructible and heavy enough to knock someone out.”

*In fact, I really wish I had a rotary phone so I could knock you out.*

Well, she said the first one. She was probably thinking the second one.

Then we flash to a scene with Angela eating some crackers. She's obviously trying to hide something. Nobody eats crackers, unless......

“Oh my God… You’re…”

Oh yes she is Cam. And you, my friend, have not fallen for her trickery.

Angela is stunned that someone was able to see through her deceit. But maybe she shouldn't have been eating the crackers. It's always the crackers.

Angela tells cam not to say anything because Hodgins wants to suprise everyone. You're such a sweet wife, Ange. I guess we can forgive you for not telling us you were pregnant

Anyway, we flash to Bones and Booth at the club. Bones is eager to display all of her guido-related knowledge.

Brennan: “Let me handle this. Yo! Sup?”

Brennan: “Notice the two unpaired females! Their body movements and attire suggest they’re available for mating.

Brennan:: Two males have spotted the available females and will approach and begin the exhibition. Fascinating! Now the males are displaying their musculature, indicating they are good breeders. This activity shows that these two will soon mate. And the other suitors will continue their search elsewhere."

Brennan: This posture will intimidate him into compliance

It certainly does.

And this, my friends, is where we meet Ice Guy who needs anger management. This Pepe guy decides to steal some ice and dump it on another guy, which results in Ice Guy having a temper tantrum.

Pepe: “Ice is frozen water yo. Water’s free! Do the math, dipstick!

Ice Guy: “Do you know what it’s like to be overrun with these morons?”

He has to count the cubes! Every single one! *sighs* People just don't understand.....

And his temper tantrum is what leads to him being convicted of murder. Apparently Richie and Pepe were trying to steal some ice, and were wearing the same shirt. He was actually trying to kill Pepe, but he killed Richie instead because they looked the same!

Looks like someone's gonna need some ice for that burn!

Oh Snap!

And that concludes my second episode review- I hope you enjoyed!

Review: The Change in the Game (The Big Bones Bombshell!)

Well, it's been over two weeks since the bomb has dropped, and we're still trying to contemplate its magnitude!

In the Bones season 6 finale, Bones and Booth work a case at a bowling alley. One of the bowlers on Bones' dad's bowling team was found smashed up inside of a pinsetter, and it's up to the Jeffersonian team to figure out exactly what happened to the poor guy.

Awesome Factor #1: Bones and Booth Go Undercover

Every episode of Bones is fantastic, but when Bones and Booth go undercover, everything is so much better! Bones and Booth return as Buck and Wanda, an engaged couple who step in for Max when he is injured. This isn't the first time we've seen Buck and Wanda, but it is the first time we are seeing them as bowlers.

Let's take a quick second to look back at our first time seeing Buck and Wanda.

The last time we saw Buck and Wanda, they were performing at a circus in the episode "Double Trouble in the Panhandle". This episode was super funny- Bones and Booth dressed up as a Russian knife throwing duo! Booth looks like he has a ferret on his lips, and Brennan got a little over-excited about the knives, which made this episode one of the best so far!

Anyway, back to Buck and Wanda the bowlers...

In this episode, The Change in the Game, Bones and Booth dressed as white trash bowlers who were engaged. I have to say, Booth rocked the mullet.

"That's my muffin at work"

We so agree, Bones.

Awesome Factor #2: Angela in Labor

Any normal mother would have asked for an epidural, but not Angela. This mommy is determined to have a natural birth, which naturally means that Hodgins is gonna have to suffer.

Poor Hodgins :(

But, it does make for one incredibly hilarious episode!

Plus, there was a really sweet moment between the two of them that made every Bones fan go "Awwwww"

“Have I ever told you how wonderful your voice is? It’s like hot tea and honey.”

Awwwwww!!!!! And their baby is just so cute :) Michael Staccato Vincent Hodgins. With his little Billy Gibbons hat! My heart just melted!

Awesome Factor #3: Bones is Pregnant!

Well, If you're like me, you have been waiting for this moment since forever! And the fact that Hart Hanson decided to make it happen in the very last minute (literally) probably had you screaming in agony. Most of us were still trying to figure out if Bones and Booth did or didn't sleep together, and Angela's knowing looks were just taunting us. Why couldn't you have just told us in the first place, Ange?

Bones and Booth are walking home from the hospital, and they are talking about Hodgela's new baby. Then, Bones stops, and tells Booth the wonderful news!

“I’m... I’m pregnant. You’re the father.”

Bones is just so adorably hesitant when she tells Booth that she is pregnant. We don't know why, though- I mean, they are obviously in love with each other. Booth has been wishing she'd say that since The End in the Beginning.

Booth's expression is just priceless, and so is Bones'.

For Bones fans everywhere, this is a dream come true!

Here's the video so you can replay the wonderfulness over and over again until you faint from happiness overload:

And so ends my first post about the show :) I hope it turned out alright!
